Geoff Hardy Fish Legal Le 18 octobre 2022

Fish Legal is an umbrella organization that uses the law to protect the fishing interests of our members. In England, we act on behalf of the Angling Trust; as well as other members; In Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, we have been defending fishermen in all disciplines for over 70 years. It works like this: if a pollution incident damages a member`s fisheries, Fish Legal is involved. If we believe there is sufficient evidence to support a successful lawsuit, we will take legal action on behalf of the fishery. All the money earned is returned to the fishery to make it healthy again. Government agencies can also sue – but this is an increasingly rare event, and even if a lawsuit succeeds, the fines go directly to the government and NOT to those whose amenities are affected. One of the country`s largest suppliers of cheddar cheese has been fined £1.52 million for multiple pollution that led to fish deaths. In England, all this legal work is complemented by campaigns and lobbying activities by the Angling Trust. Linet has #BNIGC18 to promote its services and actively recruit new members, and the response has been very encouraging. Representatives from Italy, Slovenia, Macedonia, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico and New Zealand occupied the booth in the exhibition hall, attended the official congress presentations and met with delegates.

Word quickly spread among Convention delegates who have legal or related qualifications, so that a Japanese member has already been accepted and many more nominations are in preparation. The rivers and coastal waters of the British Isles are among the richest and most prized habitats, home to various species of fish, mammals, insects and plants. They are also among the most vulnerable. Our rivers and other bodies of water have historically suffered from pollution, overexploitation and a host of other impacts that can be devastating to fragile aquatic ecosystems and destroy a fishery virtually overnight. But you can help us protect your fisheries and your aquatic environment. Fish Legal (originally the Anglers Co-operative Association and later the Anglers` Conservation Association) was founded over 70 years ago by enlightened fishermen. They were not prepared for their fisheries to be destroyed with impunity by polluters. Their vision was that by creating a co-operative association, they would have an organization with the expertise and financial strength to help members sue those who harm our rivers or streams. In addition, we advise our club members and fishing owners on many of their daily non-contentious issues related to their fishing interests, including rental/fishing rights, construction applications, dredging, extraction and so on.

We have a long history of winning pollution cases against large and small companies and allowing compensation where it is most needed – to the fishing clubs and fishing owners concerned so that they can restore their waters. We were only able to do this thanks to the loyal support of our members. Mirjana Markovska (Macedonia) and Tom Brooker (Canada) Marco Buscema and Tom Brooker (middle) with potential recruits. We work proactively to avoid pollution and anything that could harm our aquatic environment. For example: « While the fine may seem substantial, we can only hope it will be enough to convince this irresponsible company that it is less profitable to pay a fine than to continue polluting the river and the environment in general, » said Geoff Hardy of Fish Legal. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1093340/SalmonReport-2021-background.pdf If you love our rivers and coasts and want to play a positive role in keeping them clean, then join our organization. In 2021, Wales recorded the lowest catches of salmon and sea trout since records began in the 1970s, which NRW called « The Squad of Salmon and Sea Trout ».

the worst level of salmon and sea trout stocks ever recorded in Wales », with many stocks ». are in serious difficulty today and may not support sustainable populations in the future. The Environment Agency made the accusations, and although fishing clubs welcomed the decision for highlighting the problems, there are fears that the crimes, which included leaking partially treated sewage into waterways, will continue. The court heard how the incidents resulted in odors so strong that residents could not sleep, causing headaches and dizziness. The Welsh Government[1] is reviewing Natural Resources Wales` performance against its statutory functions, with the Climate Change, Environment and Infrastructure Committee focusing in particular on NRW`s enforcement of environmental legislation and responding to pollution incidents. Penny Gane, Practice Manager at Fish Legal, said: « The Welsh Government should investigate NRW`s culture and approach to enforcement, as our members feel they are unwilling to take the tough decisions and enforcement action needed to protect the river in Wales. » Linet is actively seeking lawyers who are members of BNI because it shares the same values as Givers Gain and the active cross-selling® of the goods and services they offer. This is a classic example of how BNI connections can be leveraged for something much larger and more powerful than just a network of companies within a chapter or local area. For more information on participating, please click here, email [email protected] or call 01568 620447.
