At the car`s unveiling, Apollo CEO Norman Choi announced plans to build 10 Intensa Emoziones at a price of around £2 million each exclusively for track use, similar to the Aston Martin Vulcan or Ferrari FXXK. The lessons learned (and the money earned) would then be poured into a slightly less extreme road-certified vehicle. The fact is that the kind of people who buy £2 million hypercars are not often told what they can and cannot have. You don`t even need to ask. Apollo therefore took the first steps to make the IE a legal car for the road. It is a 769 hp naturally aspirated V12 vehicle – built to LMP racing standards and claiming to produce more downforce (1,350 kg) than it actually weighs (1,250 kg) – on the road. From the same German company that brought us the Gumpert Apollo before it went bankrupt – the road-legal 4.2-litre biturbo supercar that can supposedly run upside down in a tunnel – the Apollo IE actually looks even more radical. At a recent preview event in Hong Kong, Apollo launched one of its prototypes onto the streets of the city. Apollo told Top Gear that the goal is « not only to achieve incredible track performance and robust aerodynamic efficiency.

But also to comply with the different traffic rules in our target markets, if we decided to consider the idea of cars for road traffic. Rather, it tilts the scales at just 2,756 pounds (1,250 kilograms), which is confirmed by the immense power and high-tech aerodynamics, allowing the IE to catapult to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.7 seconds on the 207 mph (333 km/h) path. The Intensa Emozione, or IE for short, is a separate model aimed more at shoppers visiting the track, though it`s also street legal. Each buyer has access to a driver training program that takes place on some of the best circuits in Europe. Similar programs have been launched with similar track-focused cars such as the Aston Martin Vulcan, McLaren P1 GTR and Ferrari FXX K. With a structure built by the same people who produced the victorious Porsche 919 at Le Mans, this road car promises to be a monster. There is also talk of legalising the Aston Martin Vulcan on the road, and although Ferrari never endorses it, some Enzo-based FXX have been used on the road in recent years. « Track-only » is often seen solely as an invitation to the super-rich to sort through a set of license plates for the world`s most aggressive and evil high-performance cars. The Apollo Intensa Emozione is one of the most sophisticated road cars ever designed, and although there are only 10 examples, the brave owner of one of them recently had his car tested at the Nürburgring.

EI may be fully road legal in most countries, but it`s more of a race car for the road. We have already mentioned that the car is built by HWA, which has a lot of experience in building racing cars. At $2.7 million and only 10 units produced, it`s not exactly cheap compared to other supercars. Then, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, there are cruises with wet asphalt fritters. We used to only have one or two supercars a decade or three if we were really lucky. Fast forward to today, and almost every month, a new supercar is announced.
